* I was 28 years old then, and still on the way to brush up my English. There you may find many errors and mistakes in my speech. It is obvious that I owe my English to KL7C/Ray. What he taught me was not only English, but the culture and idea of the people in the United States. He really opened my eyes. He is absolutely my life benefactor!

* Our first QSO with KL7C (KL7CYH, then) was on Feb. 3,1975. I was a college student, then. He told me that I had a bad ifluence of japanese accent, and the English that U.S. people speaks on the radio is not a correct English. He let me speak about the Tokyo Bay, and he taught me my mistakes one by one playing back the tape of the recording of my speech. He also corrected my pronunciation of the word "SIGNAL", repeatedly for 20 minutes. His last message "If you'd like to continue the lessons, please come up on the same frequency(14.225MHz) at the same time(0300Z)!" was the origin of the daily sked. QSO from the next day and our deep friendship.

* For the twice, one before the graduation of the University, in Feb. 1976, and the other one on our honeymoon trip in Feb. 1980, I visted his home in Anchorage, and he let me stay with his home. He let me have such a wonderful experiences that I never can forget through my life.

* Ray's dad, Marion/K6GJ (Los Altos/California) is also a Ham, and we used to enjoy a round table QSO. Marion and his wife Cecile visted us in Osaka in 1982, and stayed with us for a few days. (Both have passed away, by now)

* My parents visted Anchorage in Aug. 1992, and met Ray. Dad was so happy with eating big crabs with Ray, and that was the last good memory of his oversea trip. Dad passed away in Dec. of the same year.

* In June, 2002 my son who grew up to be a college student had a chance to study in the U.S. for a couple of months. During his holidays, he had a trip to Portland to meet Ray, who had been moved from Anchorage, and stayed with Ray for a couple of days. He was so happy with controling Cessna y voyaging a yacht with Ray. He told me that when he left Portland, he could not stop tears welling up, exactly the same as what had happened to his Dad at the Anchorage airport 26 years ago.

(This page was born with the kindness and the effort of Mr.Kawakami(JR1CNB), who happened to give me an e-mail informing me that he had found cassett tapes in which my QSOs with Ray had been recorded. He tried hard to get digital audio files from the tapes, and send them over to me. I'm most grateful to his kindness.)
